Privacy policy

Last updated 27 October 2026

The short version

  • You can play without signing up. We don’t ask for your phone number, contacts or location.
  • We keep your game progress so it isn’t lost, and so your friends can see your scores.
  • No ads. We don’t sell your data, and we don’t use an advertising ID.
  • Want your data deleted? Do it in the app, or email privacy@tryehen.xyz.

Who we are

Ehen! is the daily learning game on Android, iPhone and at tryehen.xyz. It is run by Join Quest Nig LTD, Lagos, Nigeria (“we”). We decide how your data is used.

On Google Play, Ehen! is published under the developer name Harrricdev, which is us.

Questions about privacy: privacy@tryehen.xyz.

What we collect, and why

Your game progress

The class you pick (Science, Commercial or Arts), how many minutes a day you want, your reminder time, Pip’s colour, your answers, what is due for review, your streak, coins, sessions and the courses you open. This lives on your phone first. We also back it up to our servers, so a new phone can get it back and so coins can’t be faked.

An account number

When you first open the app, it makes an account for you in the background. It has no name or email, just a random number. It links your backup, coins and friends to you.

Your Google or Apple account, only if you choose

If you tap Save my progress and sign in with Google (or Apple on iPhone), we get the name and email address on that account. We use them only to find your progress on a new phone. We never post anything for you.

Your first name for friends

If you send or play a challenge, you type the name friends see. It is shown to people you play with, to your friends, and in your weekly league.

Challenges, friends and the league

When you share or play a challenge, we keep the questions, each person’s name and score, and which questions each person got right. We keep who your friends are (only people who said yes), your league points each week, and any cups you win. Friends see your score and which questions you got right, never the answers you picked.

Courses you make

If you use Make your own, we keep the topic you type and the course Pip makes, so you can play it.

Notifications

Daily reminders are set on your phone; our servers never see them. If you turn on friend alerts, we keep your phone’s push token (so the alert reaches you) and your time zone (so we don’t send alerts between 9pm and 8am).

How the app is used, and crashes

We use Google Analytics for Firebase to count things like how many people open the app and for how long, and Firebase Crashlytics to get a report when the app crashes. These include your device model, Android or iOS version, app version, rough country (from your internet address), and a random app ID. They don’t include your answers or what you type. We use this to fix bugs and see what helps people learn. Developer builds on our own computers send none of it.

Checks that it’s the real app

Before talking to our servers, the app asks Google (Play Integrity) or Apple (App Attest) to confirm it is the real Ehen! app on a real phone. The website uses Google reCAPTCHA for the same check. This stops people from cheating or running up our costs.

The website (tryehen.xyz)

If you play a challenge in your browser, we keep the name you type and your answers for that challenge, linked to a random account number like in the app. Your place in the game is kept in your browser tab until you close it. The page loads its font from Google Fonts. We don’t use advertising cookies.

What we don’t collect

Who else sees your data

These companies work for us and may only use your data to provide their service to us. We don’t sell your data or share it for advertising. We would share it with the police or a court only if Nigerian law makes us.

Where it is stored

Our database is in Google’s data centre in Italy (Europe). Some Firebase services, Anthropic and Vercel also process data in the United States and other countries. When data leaves Nigeria, we rely on these companies’ data protection terms to keep it safe.

How long we keep it

Your choices and rights

Under Nigeria’s Data Protection Act 2023 you can ask us to:

Email privacy@tryehen.xyz. We reply within 30 days. If you’re not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.

You can also turn off notifications in your phone’s settings at any time. To change the name friends see, open the Pip tab, tap your circle at the top, then You.

Deleting your data

In the app: open the Pip tab, tap your circle at the top right to open the Menu, then tap Delete my account at the bottom. It deletes your account, progress, friends, league results and push token straight away. In old challenges and past leagues, your name becomes “Former player”.

By email, if you no longer have the app:

  1. Email privacy@tryehen.xyz with the subject “Delete my data”.
  2. Help us find your account. If you saved your progress with Google or Apple, tell us that email address. If not, paste a challenge link you sent or played, or tell us the first name you used and roughly when you played.
  3. We delete your account, progress, friends, league results and push token, and remove your name from challenges. We confirm by email.

Deleting the app removes the copy on your phone, but not the backup. To remove that too, email us as above.

Children

Ehen! is for people aged 13 and over. We don’t knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you think a child under 13 has used Ehen!, email us and we will delete their data.

Keeping it safe

Data travels between the app and our servers encrypted. Our database rules let each person read only their own data, plus what friends are allowed to see. Our AI key and passwords are never in the app.

Changes

If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. If the change is big, we’ll also tell you in the app before it takes effect.
